My entry for an application at Arena Net for a character artist position. The limitations were for it to be under 7500 triangles with three 1024 maps, normal, specular, and diffuse with 1 bit alpha. It was my first time working with set budget and finishing a character of this scope with those constraints became a bit challenging at points. But, I was able to create a solid piece at 7449 tris with the three maps and am pretty satisfied with how it came out. Took a bit longer then I planned as it was my first foray in sculpting hard edged armor along with organic forms. Not to mention working with such dynamic forms layered on top of on another. I'd say I spent roughly 60 hours working on it. Sculpted in Zbrush, retopo in Maya, textured in Photoshop, and then rendered in marmoset. The original concept can be found here.
